Sotera builds risk models for home contents insurance. Its platform takes the contents schedules insurers already hold and turns them into object-level, policy and portfolio views of risk, covering high-net-worth homes, fine art and specie, collections and general contents. Each item is assessed for traits such as fragility, portability, theft exposure and sensitivity to fire or water, so underwriters can tell apart policies with the same sum insured and spot accumulations across a book. The London company was developed in the Lloyd's Lab and Accelerate Cambridge, and counts Lloyd's of London and the Tokio Marine Future Fund among its backers.
