xWatts builds energy management software for large, complex estates such as universities, hospitals, industrial sites and commercial property. Its platform pulls live data from building management systems, IoT sensors and on-site hardware to show how buildings use energy, then automates scheduling and control using machine learning to reduce costs and carbon emissions. A bespoke strand serves energy-intensive industrial sites. The company was founded by Yigit Akar and Alexander Allen, who met at the University of Cambridge, and is backed by investors including Antler, Parkwalk, R42, Cambridge Enterprise and Cambridge Angels.
