We're always looking for founders willing to tell us their story directly. So if you'd like to be featured in our Founder Stories series, here's what we need from you.

Send your story to: [email protected]

The Basics

  • Length: 500–700 words is a good starting point but if your story needs more room to breathe, you can go longer.
  • Language: British English throughout.
  • Jargon: If you use an industry or technical term, explain it in plain language the first time it appears. Assume your reader is smart but not necessarily in your sector.
  • Statistics: Any figure, stat, or claim needs a source. A line, a footnote, or a bracketed attribution is fine, we just need to be able to trace where it came from.

One rule we won’t compromise on

EP+ does not publish AI-written pieces.

Since, Founder Stories exists to give the founders a real, human voice and not really a polished summary of their company. If a submission reads like it has been generated rather than written by the founder themselves, we will have to send it back and ask for a rewrite in your own words.

You can certainly use AI tools for spelling, grammar, or basic editing, but the story, experiences, opinions and voice need to be truly yours.

What makes a good founder story

The stories that work best aren't the ones that sound most impressive, they're in fact, the ones with texture. Which means:

  • It contains a real moment of doubt, difficulty, or a decision that could have gone either way.
  • Specifying details rather than making general claims; for example, "we nearly ran out of runway in month 14" beats "the early days were challenging"
  • Using your own voice and  not your company's marketing voice

What we are looking for is a real story with ups and downs, and not a press release.
