Bloc Ventures is a London deep tech investor backing companies that build technology deep in the stack, such as semiconductors, compute, telecoms and security. It was founded by Bruce Beckloff and David Leftley, who previously led venture investment at Arm and Vodafone respectively.
The firm is structured as a permanent capital company rather than a fixed-life fund, which lets it hold investments over longer periods and bring its backers in as shareholders. Bloc says it has been investing since 2013 and that its team has collectively invested more than £500m in deep tech start-ups. It uses its corporate relationships to introduce portfolio companies to large technology buyers.
