Howden Ventures is the corporate venture arm of Howden, the London-headquartered international insurance broking group. It invests in, and helps build, entrepreneurs using data to create better outcomes for clients and insurers, with a particular focus on data-enriched and digitally enhanced underwriting models such as new managing general agents. Alongside capital, startups gain access to Howden's distribution, industry expertise and underwriting capacity. The unit is co-led by Tom Hoad and Luke Hakes, who joined as a partner in 2025 after more than a decade at Octopus Ventures.
