LifeArc Ventures is the venture investment arm of LifeArc, a self-funded UK medical research charity based in London. LifeArc began in 1984 as the Medical Research Council's liaison office, was known as MRC Technology from 1999 and rebranded in 2017; its income now comes mainly from its investment portfolio, including royalties from the cancer drug Keytruda.
The ventures team invests in early-stage, science-led companies in therapeutics, healthtech and medical devices across therapeutic areas, from seed to Series B, and reserves capital for follow-on rounds. Portfolio companies can use LifeArc's laboratories in Stevenage and Edinburgh. It co-invests with other life sciences funds, and returns go back into the charity's work. Portfolio companies include GlycoEra and Cytospire Therapeutics.
