Northern Gritstone is an investment business based in Manchester that backs IP-rich science and technology companies in the North of England, with a particular focus on deep technology and life sciences. Set up with the universities of Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield, and now working with Liverpool too, it began investing in 2022 and supports companies from early stage through later growth. It closed £312m of commitments from local authority pension funds and institutional investors. Alongside capital it offers wraparound support through NG Innovation Services, covering venture building, talent and business services, and has offices in Manchester, London and Leeds.
