Formerly UCLB, UCL Ventures is the wholly owned commercialisation company of University College London, based in Bloomsbury. It works with UCL academics, researchers and clinicians to patent, license and spin out their research.
It helps create and manage spinout companies, supports them with early funding and investor introductions, and also backs social-impact ventures. Since 1993 it has been involved in close to 200 spinouts, and companies in its portfolio have raised around £4.5bn since 2016. It is a route for university-originated deep tech and life sciences rather than an open-call fund.
