Wayra is Telefónica's corporate venture capital and open-innovation unit, operating mainly in Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom and Brazil, with UK activity linked to Telefónica's O2 business. It invests in seed and growth-stage start-ups with tickets of €150,000 to €5m, focusing on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and advanced connectivity. A venture-client model connects portfolio companies with Telefónica business units and their customer base, and Wayra also invests as a limited partner in strategic funds in the US and Israel. Beyond capital it runs innovation services and partnership programmes with large corporates.
