Cooled Motors develops electric motor technology that does away with rare-earth permanent magnets. Its patented UESM topology is designed to replace permanent magnet motors and run on a standard three-phase inverter, so manufacturers do not need new power electronics. The company also offers the Trident cooling system, a water-based plug-in add-on intended to raise continuous power and allow smaller motors or lower-grade components.
The technologies can be licensed separately. Target applications include passenger and hybrid vehicles, heavy goods vehicles and buses, eVTOL aircraft and drones, power generation and electrified marine engines. The company says it was selected for the UK government's DRIVE35 programme.
