GambitBio is an Oxford-based start-up developing at-home cancer screening tests. Its lateral flow kits use novel saliva biomarkers to screen for common cancers, giving results in around 30 minutes, and are intended to be sold through pharmacies or online as a screening aid between routine clinical checks rather than as a formal diagnostic. A companion smartphone app records past results, sends reminders and can point users towards follow-up care. The company grew out of doctoral research at the University of Oxford, took part in the University of Edinburgh's Venture Builder Incubator, and has won several start-up prizes.
