Glox Therapeutics is a spin-out from the Universities of Glasgow and Oxford working on precision antibiotics for antimicrobial resistance. Its discovery platform engineers protein bacteriocins, molecules that bacteria naturally use to kill closely related strains, into narrow-spectrum therapeutics. The lead programmes target Gram-negative pathogens such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae, which cause serious hospital infections with high mortality and limited treatment options. Founded in February 2023, the company is registered in Glasgow and runs laboratory work in Glasgow and Oxford. Its seed round was led by the Boehringer Ingelheim Venture Fund and Scottish Enterprise.
