Spliceor is an early-stage biotechnology company spun out of the University of Cambridge's Department of Medicine. It is developing gene therapies based on RNA trans-splicing, in which a therapeutic RNA joins with a target pre-mRNA inside specific cells so that an effector is produced only where it is needed. The company uses machine learning on public and proprietary datasets to optimise its designs, and its first focus is aggressive cancers that respond poorly to existing treatments, with the aim of therapies that are tumour-selective and well tolerated. Spliceor is based at the Babraham Research Campus near Cambridge.
