Wowzing is a social connection service built around physical cards. Members receive 50 printed cards showing their first name and a unique QR code, which they hand out to people they meet at bars, clubs, social events or elsewhere. Scanning the code opens the member's private online profile, and the two can then message through Wowzing's own chat service without exchanging personal contact details.
Membership costs £95 a year and covers profile hosting, the cards, messaging, and moderation and security checks. Members can see when their cards are scanned, and recipients message for free. The service is pitched as an alternative to swipe-based dating and social apps, with people meeting in person before any profile is viewed.
