Cambridge Enterprise is the commercialisation and innovation arm of the University of Cambridge, set up around 2006. Alongside licensing and consultancy services, it builds and invests in companies based on University research, managing evergreen seed funds on the University's behalf that provide proof-of-concept, pre-seed and seed capital.
It also runs the University of Cambridge Enterprise Fund, an EIS/SEIS vehicle through which alumni and supporters can back Cambridge spin-outs. In 2023-24 it made 28 pre-seed investments and put £6.47m into 37 spin-outs, with a reported portfolio value of £74.8m.
