Nesta is the UK's innovation agency for social good, working on three missions: a fairer start for children, healthier lives and a sustainable future. Its impact investment arm backed around 40 seed to Series A companies with tickets of £150k to £2m, but stopped making new investments at those stages from 2025 and now supports the existing portfolio. New venture activity runs through the Mission Studio, which creates start-ups in-house and provides capital, networks and operational support; it has spun out nine ventures and plans more by the end of 2026. Focus areas include early-years education, health and food, and decarbonisation.
