UKI2S is an early-stage fund backed by UK public research bodies, including UKRI, Dstl and the UK Atomic Energy Authority, and managed by Future Planet Capital. It invests in innovations emerging from the UK science and knowledge base, with priority areas of engineering biology, defence and security, fusion energy and space.
The fund invests at pre-seed and seed, often as the first investor, using equity and convertible loans. Entry cheques are typically £100k to £500k, with follow-on of up to £1.5m in the strongest companies. Applicants usually need links to a partner research campus, a priority sector or partner-held IP. It reports around £150m under management.
