Aquark Technologies develops compact cold-atom quantum devices designed to work outside the laboratory. Its hardware targets precise timing, sensing and navigation, including use where satellite positioning signals are jammed or unavailable. The company grew out of more than a decade of quantum research linked to the University of Southampton and focuses on reducing the size, power draw and cost of these systems. It has run trials with defence partners across air, sea and underwater settings. Aquark was the first quantum company to receive investment from the NATO Innovation Fund and has also opened a European entity in Denmark.
