Thought Machine builds Vault Core and Vault Payments, cloud-native core-banking and payments software that lets banks replace legacy mainframes and configure products such as accounts, loans and cards through smart contracts. Founded in London in 2014 by former Google engineer Paul Taylor, it serves large incumbents including Lloyds Banking Group, Standard Chartered, JPMorgan Chase and Intesa Sanpaolo as well as digital challengers. A $160m Series D led by Temasek in 2022 valued the company at $2.7bn, and it has since raised smaller follow-on rounds from existing shareholders and a client bank. Annual recurring revenue has passed $100m, with 2025 revenue reported at £74.8m, up 57 per cent year on year, though the business is not yet profitable.
