Syncona is a London Stock Exchange-listed life sciences investor managed by Syncona Investment Management Limited, which is authorised by the FCA and based in Bloomsbury, London. It builds and backs therapeutics companies, with a portfolio spanning pre-clinical, clinical, late-stage and commercial businesses in areas such as cell therapy, gene therapy and biologics.
The investment team is heavily scientific, with most members holding PhDs. In 2025 the board shifted strategy towards returning around £250m to shareholders from mature assets, while keeping a limited budget for selective new early-stage investments built on academic science and plans for a separate institutional fund.
