Improbable is a London technology company founded in 2012 by Herman Narula and Rob Whitehead. It originally built SpatialOS, a platform for large-scale multiplayer simulations, and later developed metaverse infrastructure used for mass-audience virtual events. Backed by SoftBank among others, the company sold its multiplayer services studio to Keywords Studios for £76.5m and its defence business, and reported its first pre-tax profit of £13m for 2023. Since then it has repositioned as a venture builder focused on AI and web3, developing technology for the Somnia blockchain, selling its Imporium studio to Yuga Labs, investing $2m in DeFi app Otomato in May 2026, and launching the AI-native messaging platform Bolter with a $10m investment in September 2026.
