Stability AI develops open and commercially licensed generative models, best known for the Stable Diffusion image models and later releases covering video, audio and 3D. Its customers range from individual creators to media, gaming and advertising groups that license the models or use its API. Founded in London in 2019, the company went through a leadership change in 2024 when Prem Akkaraju became chief executive following the departure of the original founder. In 2026 it closed a $76 million Series B with strategic investors from the games and music industries, including Electronic Arts, Sony Music, Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group, bringing reported total funding to roughly $232 million.
