Wayve develops end-to-end, data-driven AI that lets vehicles drive themselves using cameras and learned behaviour rather than hand-coded rules and high-definition maps. Founded in 2017 by Cambridge researchers Alex Kendall and Amar Shah, the London company supplies its driving software to vehicle manufacturers and fleet operators, with its model tested across dozens of countries. Wayve raised a $1.05bn Series C led by SoftBank in 2024, then a $1.2bn Series D led by Eclipse, Balderton and SoftBank Vision Fund 2 with Microsoft, NVIDIA and Uber participating, taking its post-money valuation to $8.6bn. It is one of the most heavily funded AI companies headquartered in the UK.
