What happened
Aeristech Limited, based at Hermes Court in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, designed and built high-speed electric motors and centrifugal compressors, originally as electric superchargers for the automotive industry and later as power-dense air compressors for hydrogen fuel-cell systems. It moved into a new production facility in 2020 with Warwickshire business-programme grant support, aiming at 30,000 units a year. AIM-listed Vela Technologies invested £350,000 in February 2021 as part of a wider round. The company fell behind on its filings, with accounts to March 2024 and a confirmation statement both overdue, and on 3 February 2025 the High Court appointed Craig Povey and Gareth Prince of Begbies Traynor (Central) as joint administrators. Its sister company Aeristech Control Technologies Ltd entered creditors' voluntary liquidation the same day. Vela said it expected to write its stake off in full.
What happened to the assets, customers and team
Company remains in administration under Begbies Traynor; no sale of the business or assets has been reported and shareholder Vela Technologies announced a full provision against its £401,000 carrying value. Aeristech Control Technologies Ltd (07319108) went into creditors' voluntary liquidation with the same practitioners.
In their words
the appointment of administrators will lead to Vela making a full provision against the value of its investment
