What happened

Capita Scaling Partner was the corporate venturing unit of Capita plc, the London-listed outsourcing and business-services group. Launched around 2019, it took minority stakes in UK growth-stage software and services businesses that could sell into Capita's public-sector and corporate client base, offering distribution and commercial support alongside capital. In May 2024 Global Venturing reported that Capita was discontinuing the unit as part of a wider restructuring after the group reported losses for 2023 and set out a cost-reduction programme. No new investments were made after that point; the arm had no separate legal entity on Companies House, operating within Capita plc.

What happened to the assets, customers and team

Unit wound down as part of Capita's 2024 restructuring; existing stakes stayed with the parent.

Lessons

Corporate venture arms tend to be cut first when the parent is loss-making and restructuring.
