What happened

Paysme was a London fintech led by former BNY Mellon banker Derek Stewart that bundled mobile payments, e-commerce, banking, accounting, lending and insurance for small businesses into a single app it described as a super app, with sub-brands including Cab:app for taxi drivers, Marketti and Fanslive. The company was incorporated in 2010 as Cab:app Limited and renamed Paysme in 2017; by 2021 it said it served more than 3,000 small businesses in the UK and Ireland and launched a £1 million round on the Globacap platform. In January 2024 Stewart announced on LinkedIn that the business had wound down over the preceding weeks, saying the pressures of the pandemic and its aftermath had left it without the financial strength to reach its next milestone. Creditors appointed liquidators from Azets on 18 June 2024 and the company was dissolved on 18 November 2025.
