What happened

Zapp Electric Vehicles Limited, incorporated in London in 2017 as Zapp Scooters Limited, was the UK operating company behind the i300, a high-performance electric step-through scooter designed in Britain and built by a contract manufacturer in Thailand. Founder Swin Chatsuwan took the group public on Nasdaq in 2023 through a merger with the SPAC CIIG Capital Partners II, with the Cayman-registered parent Zapp Electric Vehicles Group Limited as the listed entity. The i300 gained EU type approval in 2024 and UK approval in April 2025, but deliveries remained small and the parent reported in 2025 that it needed to regain access to its Bangkok factory or shift production. Chatsuwan ceased to be a director of the UK company in May 2025. On 8 April 2026 members passed a resolution to wind up the UK company and FRP Advisory were appointed creditors' voluntary liquidators.

What happened to the assets, customers and team

Shaun Hudson and Allan Kelly of FRP Advisory Trading Limited were appointed joint liquidators on 8 April 2026 by members and creditors; the registered office moved to the liquidators' Newcastle office. No sale of the business or outcome for i300 customers has been reported.
