CPP Investments (Canada Pension Plan Investment Board) is the Toronto-based professional investment manager for the Canada Pension Plan, established by an Act of Parliament in 1997. It invests globally across public and private equities, credit, real estate and infrastructure, and its net assets stood at C$793.3bn at 31 March 2026. Through its private equity and growth programmes it takes minority stakes in later-stage technology companies, typically writing large cheques alongside other institutional investors rather than leading venture rounds. In the UK it participated in Octopus Energy's 2023 growth round that funded the deployment of low-carbon technology, and in 2026 joined the Series C of 9fin, the London debt-markets intelligence platform, at a USD 1.3bn valuation.
