Octopus Energy

Octopus Energy is a London-headquartered energy retailer and technology group that supplies renewable electricity and gas to households and businesses, and says it powers more than 10 million homes in Britain and overseas. Founded in 2015 and led by chief executive Greg Jackson, it has grown through acquisitions and licensing of its in-house Kraken customer and grid platform to other utilities, and also owns a generation arm investing in wind and solar. In December 2025 the group announced a standalone investment round for Kraken led by D1 Capital Partners that valued the software business at $8.65bn, with Octopus retaining a minority stake, alongside a further $320m injection into Octopus itself.
