Monzo is a London-headquartered digital bank founded in 2015 by Tom Blomfield, Jason Bates, Jonas Huckestein and Paul Rippon. It provides personal and business current accounts, savings, loans, investments and pensions through its app, and is among the largest app-only banks in the UK. The bank is profitable and widely expected to list publicly, though no date is set. In 2024 it raised $610 million at a reported $5.2 billion valuation, followed by a secondary sale at around $5.9 billion. Diana Layfield, formerly of Google and Standard Chartered, succeeded TS Anil as chief executive in early 2026, and the bank closed its US operations in April 2026 to focus on the UK and Europe.
