CMR Surgical designs and manufactures Versius, a modular, portable surgical robotic system for minimal-access (keyhole) surgery. The system is sold to hospitals and health systems across Europe, Asia, Latin America and, more recently, the United States, and has been used in more than 30,000 procedures according to press coverage of its 2025 financing. Founded in Cambridge in 2014, the company has raised more than $1bn, including a $600m Series D in 2021 and a round of over $200m in April 2025 that combined equity from SoftBank, LightRock and Ally Bridge with debt from Trinity Capital. The 2025 capital is earmarked for commercial expansion, particularly the US launch of Versius. Massimiliano Colella is chief executive.
