OakNorth is a London-based digital bank focused on lending to established, growing businesses that are often underserved by high-street banks, funded by a retail savings franchise. Founded in 2015 by Rishi Khosla and Joel Perlman, who previously built and sold Copal Amba, it uses its own credit-analysis software to underwrite loans of a few hundred thousand to tens of millions of pounds. The bank says it has lent more than $17bn since launch, supporting over 61,000 jobs and 36,000 new homes, and began lending in the United States in 2023, passing $1bn of US loans in 2025. Backers include SoftBank Vision Fund and Clermont Group, which led a $440m round in 2019.
